The LED driver sets the current for the backlight. When it fails the set may power on with no backlight at all, or the backlight may flash and cut out.
Match by the driver board number, and by the strip set it was built to drive. Drivers are matched to the strip voltage and LED count, so a driver from the same model family is not automatically correct.
